World Red Cross Day Culminates in Meeting PM Trudeau, for McMaster Family Medicine Professor
Last week, McMaster University’s Department of Family Medicine Professor Lynda Redwood-Campbell was part of the Red Cross on the Hill event in Ottawa, during which she met Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The event followed World Red Cross Day on May 8, 2016, to honour the organization’s humanitarian actions to build community resilience, mitigate disasters and respond to global needs during emergencies.
“Prime Minister Trudeau has been very supportive of the work Canadian Red Cross teams are doing here nationally, such as Fort McMurray, as well as internationally,” says Redwood-Campbell, who is also a senior physician and team leader in the Canadian/International Red Cross Emergency Response Unit (ERU).
Through her involvement with the Red Cross, Redwood-Campbell has made significant global contributions, which include disaster work in countries including Rwanda, Aceh Indonesia, Pakistan and Haiti.
