From October 23-24, the MSc Global Health program will undergo its cyclical academic program review – the Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP). The goal of McMaster’s IQAP is to facilitate the development and continued improvement of our undergraduate and graduate academic programs. It also aims to ensure that McMaster continues to lead internationally in its reputation for innovation in teaching and learning and for the quality of its programs.

 

The IQAP incorporates input from all principal stakeholders, as well as the opinion and advice from other institutions.

This year, the review team includes three examiners:

 

Dr. Joseph Rhatigan, MD, is Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health. He is associate chief of the Division of Global Health Equity and director of the Hiatt Global Health Equity Residency Program. As one of the key faculty members of the Harvard Global Health Delivery Project, he examines the delivery of health services in low-resource settings through case studies.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Margaret Walton-Roberts is Associate Professor and Associate Dean in the School of International Policy and Governance at Wilfrid Laurier University, and associate director of the International Migration Research Centre. Her research addresses gender, Indian migration, immigrant settlement in mid-sized Canadian cities, and the impact of transnational networks in both source and destination locales.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Jennifer Skelly is Assistant Dean in the School of Nursing at McMaster University. She has been cross appointed to St. Joseph’s Hospital since 1994 where she is the Director of the Continence Program and maintains an active clinical practice two days a week. In 1997, she established the Nurse Continence Advisor certificate program and in 2000, she founded the Canadian Nurse Continence Advisors Association.

The Global Health Office has arranged meetings with faculty, students and alumni involved in the program to help the review team understand various perspectives and gather insight to inform the critical review.
