Andrea Baumann and Christy Gombay met with recently appointed (2013) Ambassador Cees J. Kole of the Netherlands and the Indian Deputy High Commissioner of Canada, Tsewang Namgual. During these meetings, Dr. Baumann and Dr. Gombay introduced the Master of Science in Global Health Program, which was launched in 2010 to address emerging challenges in globalization and health. Discussions focused on the integral educational partnerships with Maastricht University (Netherlands) and Manipal University (India), respectively.

 

Ambassador Kole indicated that one of his main agenda items, other than trade/economics, is University education and partnerships. He is therefore happy to help continue as well as enhance this partnership and identify opportunities moving forward. Ambassador Kole was also supportive of the idea of an Ambassador Series where Ambassadors/High Commissioners in Canada are invited to come to McMaster for an open addressed to the faculty and students. In fact, he has accepted the request to be a speaker for the 2014-2015 upcoming Ambassador Series.
