McMaster Welcomes 19 Global Health Exchange Students from the Netherlands
As the new term of the MSc Global Health program kicks off, McMaster is pleased to welcome 19 exchange students from Maastricht University in the Netherlands, while 10 of our students are busy settling in to life in Maastricht.
During the program’s winter term, Global Health students are given the unique opportunity to specialize in one of three global health priority areas, and may take advantage of an exchange to Maastricht/McMaster.
“I’ve never been outside of Europe, so I’m very excited to be here in Canada,” says Maastricht exchange student Cynthia Nieuwdorp, who welcomed the chance to specialize in global health management at McMaster. “This track combines my interests in health and communication sciences, and the course on Health Economics will hopefully provide me with new insights in the global health field,” she says.
Students from both universities – as well as those from Manipal University in India – continue to work collaboratively in small virtual teams, but the exchange makes it possible for some to meet face-to-face before the summer term, when all program students meet in Manipal for a simulated global health symposium.
Recently, McMaster’s MSc Global Health program received the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) Panorama Award for Outstanding International Education Program in the Academic category. This prestigious award recognizes innovation and excellence in design, planning, implementation and management of high quality endeavours in international education.
