Students and faculty connect at the Global Health Program Meet & Greet

The Global Health program, unique in its transcontinental approach and the immersive learning environment, fosters internationalization and builds career skills for a globalized world.

Last week, the Global Health program hosted an in-person meet and greet event for the MSc and PhD in Global Health students.

Faculty members and students gathered for the event which included McMaster students and mobility exchange students from Maastricht University, and for the first time from Manipal Academy of Higher Education based in India.

The event provided time for students to introduce themselves, get to know one another, and learn about opportunities to connect and collaborate with peers.

Students had the opportunity to meet with the professors to discuss some of the electives offered in the Winter Term, gain valuable insight into their scholarly paper or thesis topics, and discuss ideas for their summer practicum.

With the Winter Term exchange opportunities in the Global Health program, students build relationships with peers and colleagues within an international academic community.

“Our programs provide the opportunity for students to build relationships with people from all over the world and broaden their international connections, which can even lead to career opportunities, including internships, job offers, and business partners.” Andrea Baumann, VP Faculty of Health Sciences (Global Health).

Expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to meet in-person, the event inspired the potential for future student-led activities such as trips to local waterfalls and coffee shops.

In fact, several students gathered after the event at the Phoenix and it is social engagements like this that inspire life-long networks as friends and colleagues.
