Hayle Noh is a recent McMaster University graduate having completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour with a Minor in Biology. Hayle’s passion for global health stems from her experience in Cambodia teaching English and volunteering rural medical clinics. While Hayle fell in love with the people she met, she gained an understanding that the health system in Cambodia created a multitude of struggles for rural communities. It is her hope that throughout the Master of Science in Global Health program and future career to focus on developing countries and their paediatric health care systems. While she aims to put roots down in Cambodia, Hayle would like to expand and conduct research in other rural communities to help improve their paediatric health systems and accessibility to health care.
We were interested to hear why they choose the McMaster University Global Health Program and so we asked them and here is they had to say.
Why did you choose the McMaster University Global Health Program?
This Global Health doctoral program will help me to refine my skills to work on improving individual’s health by decreasing inequality and protecting them from global disease hazards. Along with my previous research experience, the doctoral program will help me to be an audacious, determined and dynamic global health professional.– Mehnaz
I chose the McMaster Global Health program due to its interdisciplinary nature with a strong focus in research and practical experience. Coming from an undergraduate degree at McMaster University, I loved the tight-knit and welcoming community where I met so many like-minded individuals who continued to challenge and push me through my degree and out of my comfort zone. The McMaster Global Health program aims to give students a broader understanding of healthcare and health equity, and I am excited for the opportunity to constantly look at the bigger picture and see where my role and future career will land in the scope of the global health. – Hayle
