Bridging Different Worlds, Day 9: The Second Field Visit
Tuesday morning provided a second opportunity for the cluster groups to participate in field visits to new locations. To ensure that all clusters are touched upon, I wanted to base this commentary on comments from a number of conversations that I have had with colleagues about the two field visits that we have had so far.
The field visits have provided a range of experiences for members of each cluster group – both positive and negative. Students have faced working conditions that do not appear to follow safety regulations but have willing workers; a laboratory that is perfectly sterile with up-to-date equipment; uncomfortable and ethnically challenging situations; field visits that resulted in interviews in addition to observations (as mentioned in the field visit instructions).
