Global Health Symposium April 25 – Daily Recap: Field Visit Preparation & the Dilemma Workshop
Yesterday students gathered into their respective policy clusters to create an observational plan, an interview guide and attend a dilemma workshop facilitated by faculty members. The observational plan involved a thorough literature search and creating a checklist containing things to observe when the students travel to their respective field placements today.
Secondly, the groups designed a specific plan, including interview questions and appointing a scribe, to give structure to the stakeholder meetings, which will take place on Mon. April 30th. These two activities provide organization and direction, in order to get the most out of the field visits, which will be reflected in the system maps.
The dilemma workshops gave students the opportunity to discuss, as a team, how they would handle uncomfortable situations assuming they would arise during their field visits. Students collaborated with each other and the two expert faculty members present during the workshop- provided feedback on the potential solutions. The workshops also sparked discussions around the similarities and differences among healthcare policies and systems in India, compared to what students encounter with their own health institutions back home.
