Global Health Symposium May 2 – Daily Recap: Group Excursion!
Tuesday May 1st was excursion day for students at the Symposium! Students visited Karkala, and were mesmerized by the monument of Bahubali, a highly revered Jain deity, built during the Ganga dynasty in 981 AD. Students were also privileged to visit the Thousand Pillar Temple in Moodabidri.
At this Jain temple, built in 1400 AD, each pillar is unique, and historians believe the site overall to have once served as a refuge and sanctuary for Jain travelers who experienced religious persecution in the North.
