GHO Hosts Delegation from Niigata Seiryo
The GHO, along with faculty from the School of Nursing, hosted a delegation from Niigata Seiryo University on September 2, 2015. The goal was to expand Niigata Seiryo’s nursing research and graduate programs and connect with McMaster through faculty and student exchanges.
Niigata Seiryo is a private university in Japan that currently brings together three fields in its Faculty of Nursing, Social Welfare, and Psychology. The delegation visited McMaster to learn more about graduate programs offered, as well as research conducted by the Nursing Health Services Research Unit (NHSRU), led by Scientific Director Dr. Andrea Baumann (Associate V-P, Global Health) at the McMaster site.
The Niigata delegation included Dr. Hiroshi Suzuki (Vice-President), Dr. Fusako Ozaki (Professor, Graduate School of Nursing, Dep. Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Social Welfare & Psychology) and Michiko Watanabe (Lecturer).
They met with Dr. Andrea Baumann, Dr. Mabel Hunsberger (Associate Professor, School of Nursing; Research Associate, Nursing Health Services Research Unit, Faculty of Health Sciences), Dr. Carolyn Byrne (Associate Dean, School of Nursing), Dr. Ruth Lee (Chief of Nursing Practice, Hamilton Health Sciences) Dr. Kristine Rogers (Chair, Academic Resources), as well as a group of current nursing students and graduates.
