Each year, the Global Health Speaker Series invites global health experts from all over the world to speak at McMaster University. In this talk, titled “The Dutch Health Care System: Adaptivity to Innovation“, Ms. Regine Aalders will explore the Dutch health care system and its evolution. In addition, she will draw on her experience over the past four years working in economic diplomacy from the Netherlands and for the Embassy of the Netherlands – specifically in the top sector of life sciences and health.

 

This work has involved combining the assets of Dutch health care, health care partners, and health care industries with foreign trade and preparing programs for ministers, the private sector and academia (amongst others to US, China, India, the Russian Federation and Brazil).

 

Ms. Aalders has over 30 years’ experience working in the civil service and internationally at various posts. Having worked for the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport since 1992, her positions have included senior global health advisor of the International Affairs Department and head of the Inspectorate for Youth Care.

 

In her current role, she focuses on social and health policies, international work, and management. She is dedicated to brokering between policymakers, professionals, and different groups in society.

 

The GHO developed the annual Global Health Speaker Series in 2010. Preeminent experts from all corners of the globe have participated, with topics ranging from earthquake management to teleradiology in developing countries.
