International Surgery Desk Fall 2016 Newsletter Highlights Advances in Surgical Care
“Is the time ripe for a new McMaster joint initiative in global Obstetrics/Gynecology, Anesthesia, and Surgery?” asks International Surgery Desk (ISD) Director and MSc Global Health program faculty member Dr. Brian Cameron.
In the latest ISD Newsletter, Cameron calls for closer collaboration between disciplines to advance global surgical care, citing Dalhousie and UBC as examples of multidisciplinary Global Surgery offices that include Anesthesia, Obstetrics/Gynecology, and Surgery as partner disciplines.
With international collaborations in almost 50 countries, McMaster’s Department of Surgery faculty are involved in a wide range of activities, including multi-centre clinical trials, volunteer clinical and educational visits affiliated with NGOs, and postgraduate training contracts to train surgeons from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
The Global Health Office congratulates the ISD and the important work they are doing.
