As part of the MSc Global Health program, nine students from Maastricht University in the Netherlands are spending this term on exchange at McMaster, while 20 of our students are studying in Maastricht. 

 

The Global Health program, delivered through a network of partner universities in the Netherlands, India and Norway, provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. 

 

During the winter term, students have the ability to specialize in a global health priority area, choosing one of five concentrations – three of which are available at McMaster and two of which are offered at Maastricht. 

 

Tom Buis is among the Maastricht students who recently arrived at McMaster. “I’m excited to experience higher education in Canada and learn as much as I can about global diseases, as well as how to practically implement this knowledge to change the world for those who need it most,” he says. 

 

“McMaster and Maastricht share a common vision and awareness that international partnerships are increasingly defined by interconnectivity rather than traditional bilateral relationships,” says Andrea Baumann, Associate V-P, Global Health. 

 

“Our program provides meaningful exchanges and real-world experiences to create a strong alumni network and prepare future global health leaders,” she says.
