Global Health Annual Review: Second Volume of Student-Led Journal is Now Online
The second volume of the Global Health: Annual Review (GHAR) journal has now been posted online. The first volume was released in January 2016, after a group of graduates from the MSc Global Health program class of 2014-2015 created the journal in an effort to share the knowledge and experience of past students with current and prospective ones.
While the first volume focused exclusively on research summaries, the second volume allowed authors to submit opinion editorials as well. This year’s volume includes eight research summaries and five opinion editorials, and the content gives readers a taste of some of the exciting global health research and work being done at McMaster and in the broader global health community.
“This journal offers students a platform to highlight what they’ve learned throughout the MSc Global Health program,” says David Hill, MSc Global Health program graduate and manager of the GHAR. “It challenges them to condense their year’s work to just 700-1200 words – an important skill for researchers to have,” he says.
Hill congratulates the 2015-2016 editorial board: Danielle Arje, Bahar Behrouzi, Michael Elfassy, Sherry Nesbitt, Raafia Siddiqui, and Raksha Sule. “Special thanks also goes to Palika Kohli, Sunita Kheterpal, and Sherif Saleh for their support and leadership,” adds Hill, noting that the journal is an important tool for knowledge sharing and in creating a global health network for past and present students.
