Strengthening Partnerships in Japan: Niigata Seiryo Professors Visit Campus
With McMaster University continuing to strengthen relationships with institutions in Japan, the Global Health Office welcomed three professors from Niigata Seiryo University last week.
The two-day visit provided an opportunity to discuss student mobility between institutions, to explore problem-based learning in action within the Faculty of Health Sciences, and to talk about the ways to best facilitate the development of clinical skills in the areas of nursing and midwifery specifically.
The group received an introduction to Health Sciences at McMaster, and visited sites including McMaster Children’s Hospital, the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS), and the Centre for Professional Practice (Simulation/High fidelity Laboratory), IAHS.
Niigata Seiryo University has a faculty of Nursing and faculty of Social Welfare and Psychology, with graduate schools in both disciplines. The university’s relationship with McMaster dates back several years, with both universities interested in exploring future collaboration.
